Mid Day Meal Scheme

Mid Day Meal [MDM] programme implemented across all the government and government aided school in India aimed to provide nutritional meal to each and every child [6-14 year] in school to achieve the goal of universalization of elementary education and also provides tremendous opportunities to accomplish the objective of education for sustainable development [ESD], however ,it continues to face the neglect of the teaching learning but consumes the precious time , which otherwise could have been utilized meaningfully for various curricular activities .MDM provides excellent opportunities under education for sustainable development [ESD].

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME

The following parameters woud apply -

  •  To enhance the enrollment , retention and attendance of student.
  •  To improve the nutritional status of children enrolled at primary and upper primary level.
  •  To motivate children belonging to disadvantaged sections to attend primary school regularly and help them to concentrate on school and classroom activities.
  •  To provide nutritional support to children of primary stage in drought affected areas in summer vacation ,thereby ensuring their continued intrest in schooling.
  •  Improve socialization among castes.
